The Fraunhofer Institute for Layer and Surface Technology (IST) combines expertise in the fields of layer production, application and characterization, and uses them in the fields of mechanical engineering, tools and vehicle technology, aerospace, energy and electronics, optics and life science and the environment. Process engineering focuses on the IST on gas phase processes both with and without the use of a plasma (PVD, PECVD, CVD) and on galvanic processes.
